I MADE IT!!! And oh man…it’s crazy. I’ve been meeting loads of people from all over the world. Countries represented are Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Chile, Mexico, US, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, South Korea, England, Norway, Finland…..point proven…all over the world. It’s been super interesting to meet so many people with so many different view points and backgrounds. I think the hardest part for me has been just wanting the program to get started. The first day was difficult as we just hung out waiting for people to arrive. I was rearing to go J. I live in a room with 11 other girls. Altogether in our DTS there are 32 people…26 of them are girls…wahoo! Yesterday we had our orientation and then today we went to church and played some vball. I haven’t spoken tons of Spanish but I have definitely been taking loads of vocab notes because we have a translator for everything….4 – 5 pages of just vocabulary. My mind just needs to be refreshed on all that I have forgotten. I can understand a ton of what they say but my ability to remember words….still coming back to me.
Today was the first day I felt comfortable to wear shorts. It’s been stankin’ cold…well like 58 degrees. I know I know…you’re like…Spoon, you crazy. Let me explain….walls are made of cement here and although it might be mild weather…inside a house in the states never gets to 58 degrees….well everywhere you go here it will be the same or cooler than outside. BOOOOO. So, I might be freezin’ my tail off at times…don’t worry about me though. Jesus will keep me warm J. Yesterday was awesome with learning all that we are going to be doing and learning throughout the next 12 weeks. There are so many different themes and amazing speakers we are going to have. The program and the way it is set up is very well done and professional. I am excited to get going. Tomorrow (Monday) is our first full day of classes. We have breakfast from 6:30 – 7 (EARLY), 7:30 – 8 are devotions, 8 – 9 all base worship, 9 – 12:30 is class…lunch and then free time and then from 4 – 6 we have our chores (specific duties around the base), at 6 we have dinner and then bible study/photo classes!! WAHOO! Here’s some photos..

These two and I have become good friends, both are AMAZING singers, play volleyball, and we have a lot of fun together!

Oh Taryn! This reminds me of my first week in DTS too - they are so much the same its crazy. meeting people from all over the world, being ready and excited to start, translating too (although it was translated into Korean and not the whole time)! WOW! This is so amazing and I am praying that you have such a great time and that you make lifelong friends and that God teaches you so much about him and yourself! I love you and miss you so much!! But im giddy with excitement for you - get ready to be changed for the ordinary! :)
