This last four day weekend, a couple of friends and I decided it was time we crossed the cultural bridge....so off we headed to Morocco. It really is only a 35 minute ferry bought ride, crazy huh? The five of us arrived in Tangier on friday and immediately got a taxi ride to Asilah where we were going to rent a house for the weekend. The house was amazing. Well furnished and clean. We spent most of our time walking the streets, taking siestas, playing cards, reading, checking out the sights, and relaxing....not bad. The sour point of the trip is that once you cross the Straits of Gibraltar....you become the newest local attraction if you have a hint of light colored hair. So, just imagine. I am very glad we went with two men because if not, I would have been lost forever...not really, I'm just making it sound worse, ha.
Part of the house!

My highlight of the trip was riding on the CAMEL...that's right, camel. We walked up to these camels to take pictures with them. (One of them started nibbling at my hair probably thinking it was hay or something.) And, the owner said, "sube, sube" (subir-to go up, to climb)....translation "get on, get on". It took me a quick 2 seconds the hop on. It was awesome. The funny part is that you get on when the camel is laying which means the camel has to get up at some point. It first brings its hind legs up (so it feels like you're riding a horse down a steep hill) and then slowly it brings its front legs up. So fun!!! Anyway, the trip was filled with good food (couscous!!) and good friends. Great vacation.
Sydney, Me, and Lucia!!
Our amazing couscous dish made especially for us!!

This is the ride to the market, that's right, four people shoved in the back seat. The pictures following are of the marketplace in a town nearby. It's a legit market.

OH WAIT.........HERE IT COMES.........SUZANNA, THE CAMEL!!! It was amazing!

OH Suzanna...she was such a sweetie!!
